John C. Sturgeon

John C. Sturgeon is a Partner in our Workers’ Compensation Department.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a dual major in Finance and Marketing at Villanova University in 2009. He earned his Juris Doctor at Valparaiso University School of Law in 2012. While enrolled in law school, John worked as a legal intern in the Valparaiso Civil Law Clinic, representing indigent clients in a variety of civil litigation matters, including divorce, small claims, debt collection defense, and will preparation. He also published a monthly column in The Forum, the student law school paper.
Upon graduation and prior to joining Rusin Law, John worked at a boutique firm in the Schaumburg area, focusing on civil litigation, business transactions, family law, and criminal defense. John represented a diverse set of clients from case intake to resolution.
Since joining the firm in 2015, John has aggressively represented employers in workers’ compensation cases across the state and throughout all stages of litigation. He works closely with clients to develop cost-effective defense strategies tailored to each individual case. John keeps clients well-informed throughout the litigation process and takes tremendous pride in achieving optimal results.
John is an avid fan of Chicago sports and Villanova basketball. John was the former president of The Villanova University Club of Chicago from 2017-2023. He enjoys golfing, fine dining, pop culture, traveling, and spending time with his daughter Gemma and family.
