File Room Clerk

Location: Chicago

Rusin & Maciorowski is seeking a full-time file room clerk for its Chicago office.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Mail Processing
Copying
Scanning
Handle large volume of incoming files and outgoing documents
Managing our firm’s physical and electronic filing system
Preparing mailings
Deliveries and court runs
Reception coverage (needs basis)
Assist in other requested duties

Qualifications:

Education: H.S. Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Prior experience at a law firm is a plus, but not required.

Skills/Abilities: Candidates must be able to lift and move 50lbs., detail-oriented, organized, and have strong work ethic. Must be able to work in a team environment, communicate and multi-task effectively.

Legal Secretary

Location: Chicago

Rusin & Maciorowski, Ltd. is seeking a full-time legal secretary for its Chicago office.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Heavy Transcription of letters, abstracts, pleadings and other material
  • Schedule depositions, court reporters and IMEs
  • Prepare subpoenas
  • Create specific pleadings
  • Internal filing of documents
  • Email correspondence to clients
  • Fax, copy, bulk mail FedEx documents
  • Answer phone calls for attorneys
  • Answering phones, sorting mail
  • Professional Attitude and Appearance
Qualifications:
  • Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
  • Experience:At least 3+ years of Workers’ Compensation experience preferred. Litigation background a plus. Excellent grammar and spelling. Must have knowledge of medical terminology. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Typing speed of 65 WPM required.
  • Skills/Abilities:Attention to detail and accuracy, well organized and efficient. Excellent oral and written skills.

Civil Litigation and Workers’ Compensation Attorneys

Rusin & Maciorowski, Ltd. provides a dynamic, high-energy work environment where every attorney is challenged to provide the highest quality product. Our Civil Litigation practice area offers associates the opportunity to be part of a trial team on a variety of personal injury and commercial litigation cases. The trial teams develop the litigation plan and follow through from initial discovery through trial and post trial practice. Our size allows all attorneys a unique opportunity to be on the front lines with respect to the preparation of cases and to develop a personal caseload. Our Workers’ Compensation practice offers an opportunity to advance quickly in a fast-paced trial practice area. Associates are immediately given a personal case load to manage, prepare and try. This area provides a unique forum in which to develop negotiating, client management and trial skills. All associates are given guidance to assure their development and progress. Each new attorney is assigned a partner/mentor to assist in teaching both law and office practices, as well as monitoring work load and product. We provide regular associate reviews and evaluations on individual projects and overall performance. We utilize these sessions to set individual goals for the associate. Attorneys at Rusin & Maciorowski, Ltd. are kept current with the latest law and practice tips. We hold regular meetings on recent cases and tips, as well as office practice pointers. Attorneys also attend seminars and conferences and report to the Firm to effectively disseminate the newest legal, medical and practice information. We are constantly reassessing our technology to assure we are providing the necessary tools for word processing, legal research and file management. Support Staff

At Rusin & Maciorowski, Ltd., we value our experienced and dedicated staff who enjoy the benefits of working for a mid-sized downtown firm. We currently employ secretarial, reception, paralegal, docketing, billing and office services staff positions. Our staff enjoys a fast-paced, friendly atmosphere.

Legal Secretaries

Legal Secretaries are the largest support group at Rusin & Maciorowski, Ltd. and we recognize the integral role they play in the success of our firm. Our legal secretaries will typically work in one practice group for two to three attorneys with the Overflow Department as a support. All secretaries are initially trained in our Overflow Department for a short time to become familiar with our procedures and protocol. Qualifications We hire experienced professionals with at least three years of background in either Workers’ Compensation or Civil Litigation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook and typing speed of 70 WPM required. Thorough knowledge of legal formats, preparing subpoenas, scheduling deposition and performing transcription are basic responsibilities.

Paralegal Professionals

Candidates will have experience in electronic and general research skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Tasks include obtaining, filing documents with federal and local courts and agencies; performing database updates and labeling and indexing documents, organization and maintenance of complex files.

Support Services

Reception, legal assistants, billing clerks and office services staff makes up the remainder of the support team. In each of these positions, strong organizational and customer service skills are necessary. Many assignments are multi-tasked and all enhance the meticulous work flow of the Firm.
