Jacob V. Welch
Jacob V. Welch is an Associate in our Workers’ Compensation Department.
Jacob earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Eastern Illinois University. He obtained his Juris Doctor with a Litigation Specialization from Southern Illinois University in 2019, and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2020. While in law school, he was President of the Student Bar Association for two years and was a Student Editor/Contributor for both the Southern Illinois University Law Journal and American College of Legal Medicine’s Journal of Legal Medicine, as well as holding an Executive position on the Moot Court Board. Jacob also won a Regional Championship during the 2019 ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition as a member of a National Top 24 Team. Subsequently, he was admitted to The Order of the Barristers for demonstrating exceptional skill in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and legal writing.
While in law school, Jacob clerked for the Illinois Office of the Attorney General in Urbana, for a plaintiff’s civil litigation firms in Belleville. In practice, he has represented plaintiffs while at a boutique firm in Springfield and Decatur and has also worked for an insurance defense firm in Springfield in their civil litigation department. Jacob is eager and excited to apply his experience in civil litigation, as well as his skill in trial and oral advocacy, to zealously serve his clients.
In his spare time, Jacob is a local musician, enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and playing tabletop games.
