Maheen Husain

Associate

Maheen Husain is an associate in our Workers’ Compensation department.

Maheen received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Loyola University Chicago in 2017. As an avid competitor in Mock Trial and Moot Court, she won numerous team and individual awards. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Maheen served as a Certified Mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution. By mediating small claims cases in Cook County, she honed her communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills; tools she now applies to all aspects of her legal practice.

Prior to joining Rusin Law, Maheen worked for a private firm defending employers and insurance carriers under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Defense Base Act, and the War Hazards Compensation Act. Additionally, Maheen is an active board member of the Aga Khan Conciliation and Arbitration Board for the Midwestern United States, where she regularly volunteers her time to educate the local community on legal and dispute resolution principles.

Maheen is known for her empathy and disarming sense of humor. “I believe the foundation of effective advocacy lies in clear communication and a compassionate approach,” Maheen says. “Guided by these values, I listen closely to my clients, understand their goals, and develop strategies that achieve meaningful results.”

In her free time, Maheen enjoys performing stand-up comedy, cheering on the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and White Sox, and spending time with her friends, family, and her beloved dog, Milton.
